Allegretti Icing (Version 2)
Cream 3 tbsp.
vegetable shortening (such as
Snowdrift)—or butter; blend in 1
egg yolk. Stir in 2 tbsp. cream, 2
cups sifted confectioners' sugar,
1 tsp. vanilla, beat well. Add more
cream if needed. Frost cake. Melt
1 1/2 sq. (1 1/2 oz.) chocolate with
1/4 tsp. Wesson Oil over hot water;
cool slightly. Pour over top . . . let
chocolate trickle down sides.
This recipe has the same name as . . . Allegretti Icing . . . but adds:
- Solid fat
- Egg yolk
- Confectioners' sugar
