Before You Begin

How to Use the Original Recipe and the Variations Pages

STEP 1. . . . View the original recipe.

STEP 2. . . . Decide which version of the cake, Large or Small, you want to make.

STEP 3. . . . View the Variations page.

STEP 4. . . . Select a variation and alter the Large Cake or Small Cake recipe as directed.

STEP 5. . . . Bake the cake as directed.

STEP 6. . . . If you plan to use a frosting or icing on the cake, view the Frostings/Icings, etc. page.

STEP 7. . . . Select the filling, frosting, glaze, icing, sauce, or topping of your choice. Prepare as directed.

STEP 8. . . . Serve/devour the cake!

Miscellaneous Tips:

Common measurements you'll come across while using this site or any of one its pages:

7/8 cup . . . . Measure 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons.
3/8 cup . . . . Measure 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons. You can also measure this amount by measuring with a 1/8 cup (2-tablespoon measure) three times.
1/6 cup . . . . Measure 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons.
3/4 tablespoon . . . Measure 2 1/4 teaspoons.
1/2 tablespoon . . . Measure 1 1/2 teaspoons.
1/4 tablespoon . . . Measure 3/4 teaspoon.
3/8 teaspoon . . . . Measure 1/4 teaspoon plus 1/8 teaspoon. You can also measure this amount by measuring with a 1/8 teaspoon measure three times.
1/16 teaspoon . . . . Measure half of 1/8 teaspoon.
