About This Website
This site was created to serve as an online archive for the original Chiffon Cake recipe created by Harry Baker and later published (and marketed) by General Mills/Betty Crocker, starting in 1948.
All recipes, including those listed in Variations and Frostings/Icings, etc., are taken from the original "Betty Crocker Chiffon Cake Recipes and Secrets" booklet published in 1948.
Additional variations of the original recipe are also taken from the original "Betty Crocker's Softasilk Special Occasion Cakes" booklet, published in 1957.
All other variations listed on this site come from official Betty Crocker advertisements or official magazine or print ads that circulated during the time period in which the cake was most popular.
The main goal behind this website was to provide others with the original recipe and as many variations as I could find and compile them in a simple, straightforward website.
If you don't want to track down the original Chiffon Cake booklet from 1948 (or the 1957 Softasilk Special Occasions booklet), on eBay, you don't have to! All recipes from both booklets, as well as variations from vintage print ads, are here.
Please understand that this site is a work-in-progress and is by no means complete. New variations of the original recipe will be added here as I find them, when I have the spare time to post them.
In the meantime, please feel free to look around, and I hope you find a version of this classic cake that speaks to you.
